AMCE Celebrates 30+ Years of Sovereign Australian Aerospace Excellence
SOUTH WINDSOR, NSW — Aerospace & Mechanical Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd (trading as AMCE) is proud to mark more than 30 years of continuous service delivering high-integrity engineering solutions, airworthiness certification, and sovereign technology innovations to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the international aerospace community.
Founded in 1994 in South Windsor, NSW — right at the heart of the historic Hawkesbury defence aviation corridor near RAAF Base Richmond — AMCE has grown from a specialized aeronautical consulting practice into one of Australia’s most respected sovereign engineering organisations.
Three Decades of Landmark Achievements
Reflecting on 30 years of operations, AMCE’s history is defined by pivotal contributions to military aviation capability and aircrew safety:
- 1994: Founded by aerospace engineers with a commitment to high-rigour mathematical analysis and uncompromised flight safety.
- 2006: Urgent engineering response to small arms threats in the Middle East Area of Operations (Operation Slipper), delivering mechanically fastened lightweight ballistic armour suites for RAAF C-130 transports.
- Award recognition: Recognised with Essington Lewis Awards in the Rapid Acquisition and Minor Acquisition categories.
- 2012: Fleet-wide introduction of the patented C-130 Paratroop Door Negator Upgrade across the RAAF C-130J fleet, eliminating a severe occupational health hazard for Loadmasters.
- 2018–2024: International expansion across North America and the Asia-Pacific, supplying role equipment to the US Air Force, US Coast Guard, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Royal New Zealand Air Force.
- 2026: Delivery of a modernised 2026 brand identity and listing in the Australian Defence Exports Catalogue 2026.
Reflections from Founder & Chief Engineer
“When we established AMCE in 1994, our goal was simple: provide Australian Defence aviation with sovereign engineering capabilities that combine theoretical rigor with practical flight-line common sense. Over the past 30 years, we have seen our designs deployed to combat zones, protected aircrew from hostile fire, eliminated crippling physical injuries, and helped our clients keep aging fleets flying safely.
As we look ahead, our commitment remains unchanged: DESIGN. DEVELOP. DELIVER. We look forward to supporting the next generation of Defence aircraft and mentoring the next generation of Australian aerospace engineers.“
— John Eldridge, CEO & Chief Engineer
Strategic Growth in the Hawkesbury Aerospace Hub
AMCE continues to invest in its South Windsor engineering offices, digital toolsets, and prototype assembly workshops. Located minutes from RAAF Base Richmond, AMCE is ideally positioned to support ongoing sustainment of ADF air mobility, tactical transport, and rotary-wing fleets.
