Engineering Precision from Concept to Airworthiness
AMCE provides comprehensive aeronautical and mechanical engineering design services for military and civil aircraft. Our engineering team combines deep theoretical mechanics with practical manufacturing knowledge, ensuring every design is structurally airworthy, aerodynamically optimized, human-factored for maintainers and crew, and cost-effective to produce.
All design deliverables are authored, checked, and approved by qualified Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng / NER / RPEQ) operating under our ISO 9001 certified design assurance system.
Aircraft Structural Design & Stress Analysis
We design primary and secondary structural modifications for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft across extreme military flight envelopes:
- Airframe Modifications: Internal mission equipment racks, antenna installations, sensor pod mounts, floor reinforcement schemes, and aerodynamic fairings.
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA): High-fidelity linear and non-linear computational modeling to determine stress concentrations, load paths, margin of safety calculations, and buckling stability.
- Classical Analytical Calculations: Hand-calculation stress packages referencing authoritative engineering references (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, ESDU) to cross-verify computational FEA results.
- Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Analysis (DTA): Assessing structural fatigue life, crack initiation thresholds, and inspection intervals under spectrum loading.
Precision Mechanical Systems & Mechanisms
Aeronautical mechanisms must perform flawlessly under intense vibration, extreme operational temperatures (-54°C to +71°C), and hostile environmental exposure:
- Kinematic & Mechanism Design: High-stiffness spring counterbalances, door actuation aids, deployment linkages, latching mechanisms, and emergency jettison releases.
- Role Equipment & Ground Support Equipment (GSE): Specialized maintenance fixtures, engine transportation dollies, lifting slings, and installation tooling (such as our patented Slide Spanner tool).
- 3D Motion & Tolerance Simulation: Dynamic clearance envelopes, interference checking across airframe deflection limits, and differential thermal expansion analysis.
Aircraft Structural Repair Schemes
When operational aircraft suffer in-service damage — including bird strikes, lightning strikes, ground-handling collisions, or structural corrosion:
- Rapid Concession Engineering: Immediate engineering evaluation when damage exceeds structural repair manual (SRM) limits.
- Permanent & Temporary Repairs: Design and certification of flush doubler repairs, blend-out limits, composite patch repairs, and structural member replacements.
- Technical Records: Authoring formal Engineering Technical Records (ETRs) and Compliance Substantiation Reports (CSRs) to return aircraft to flight line service safely.
Cabin Safety & Human Factors Engineering
Occupant survivability and aircrew ergonomics are central to AMCE's engineering ethos:
- Occupant Crash Restraint: Structural analysis of troop seating, crew stations, and harness attachments to 9g forward, 3g upward, 1.5g lateral, and 6g downward crash load factors.
- Cargo Restraint & Stowage: Certified tie-down configurations, cargo net restraint attachments, life raft stowage containers, and pyrotechnic storage housings.
- Maintainability Ergonomics: Components engineered for operation with flight gloves and maintenance using standard flight-line hand tools.
- Flammability Compliance: Full material qualification ensuring all cabin materials meet strictly FAR 25.853 / CS 25.853 flammability, smoke, and toxicity standards.
Advanced CAD & Reverse Engineering
Our South Windsor design facility utilizes industry-standard digital toolsets, generating fully dimensioned manufacturing packages adhering to AS 1100 and MIL-STD-100 standards, with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
When original OEM drawings are unavailable, AMCE executes high-precision 3D optical scanning, CMM inspection, and metallurgical analysis to reverse-engineer obsolete airframe components with complete digital airworthiness provenance.
